Geckos are the world’s greatest climbers, soon to be dethroned by queerfitters. Today, our challenge is to practice climbing. With some pushups thrown in for good measure.
Our Sunday challenge is to find 5 things worth climbing…and climbing them. The only rule is the thing has to be higher than hip level. The higher, the better, of course. Be creative! Be daring! Scare the bejeebies out of yourself! List your items in your comments.

Oh, yes. KL–I LOVED this one. I climbed the dogwood out front, the fig tree on the side, the fence gate twice (um…cuz I locked myself out…), the deck railing, and–this one really did scare me–my shed roof. Especially trying to get down from that roof. And 25 resplendent pushups.
Coach Shea–I wasn’t sure I was feeling my hamstrings yesterday. But clearly, I was. Today, they are talking. Loud.
Fat Tuesday this week, y’all. Laissez les bons temps rouler!!
Hot DAYUMN!!! Oh, yeah.

The shed roof! That wins some kind of prize.

I like to see what Coach KL has for us the night before the day of. So I went to sleep last night with climbing in the mind.
Then, this morning, this came out my fingers.
Climbing
I was once a child in Atlanta
And I climbed trees
To find the sky
In 1968, I was a high school freshman
And I remember the April day
Of a mule-drawn wagon, three and a half
Miles it pulled a coffin and
Thousands of thousands of people
My school spent the day crowded
Into classrooms with tv sets.
And we watched.
Billy Reich, one of the cutest White boys
In the ninth grade,
Wore a black armband and numbness.
Deborah Beaks and the other Black kids walked like stones, their
Faces scrubbed clean of feeling, like
Monday morning chalkboards.
I was once a child in Atlanta
And I climbed trees
to find
A
Sky.

Done. This was kind of fun but a bit hard. When you’re tall it’s hard to find things that are higher than your waist (sorry).
1) Dining room table
2) Top of treadmill
3) Kitchen Counter
4) TV holder thingy (climbed 3 times cause when I was up there I noticed it was pretty dusty)
5) Bathroom counter

2) kitchen counter/island (repeat from last week)
3) the back of my car
4) a drywall cutout in the basement for the TV that was never put there
5) my dresser

Movable platform at gym (no points for creativity here): 1. At hip 2. At belly 3. At sternum 4. At chest 5. At chin (no points for graceful here, either). Let’s go team Shine! 🙂

Glo, you’re always graceful…except when a slam ball comes down on you.

Cindy! So kind of you to say 🙂 It took me weeks to recover from that!

Okay, this was a bit tricky. For me it was hard finding things to climb that were hip high and sturdy enoughâ¦but here goes.
1. Washing machine
2. Dryer
3. Bathroom sink
4. Sofa (climbing from behind while holding on to armrest and treadmill so it would not fall over on top of me)

Today I climbed:
On the kitchen counter to reach a bowl in the upper cabinet
Up a ladder to replace a light bulb
Up a hill on the side of the house to carry stuff from the basement
Into a truck bed to load said stuff
Over and behind a sofa to vacuum

Bathroom counter, washing machine, dryer, kitchen counter, dining room table. I think Cindy wins on creativity for this round!

Since I stayed home to take care of sickie love, and because we have lack of sturdy, above the hip items, I ended up climbing kitchen counter 5 times.

I was a litle confused on how the climbing had to go. I claimed up on my car. And on the high counter in my kitchen( twice). I threw in 100 squats and 50 push-ups to keep the momentum.
