Over the last few months, police officers in the Atlanta area have shot and killed: Kevin Davis, who called 911 for help after a man stabbed his girlfriend; Anthony Hill, who was naked and obviously unarmed; and Nicholas Thomas, who tried to flee after cops came to his job to serve a warrant for unpaid traffic fines.
For Wednesday’s challenge, start with 5 sun salutations, then immediately:
25 squats as slow and deep as possible
Your best inversion, held as long as possible
20 pushups as slow & low as possible
Your best inversion, held as long as possible
25 squats as slow and deep as possible
Your best inversion, held as long as possible
20 pushups as slow & low as possilbe
Be in your squats, be in your inversion, be in your pushups.

Done. That was intense. 50, 40, 30 seconds on the inversions.

fin….
note to folks with bodies that get a monthly moon cycle, reconsider doing full inversions as it is not healthy and switches the flow of your flow. lol. but seriously, do something modified, down dog is great during this time .

Done with a heavy heart! Because of the work I do, I unfortunately encounter cops all the time. Some are great, some I wanna tag with their own taser gun – especially when they show their asses with people with mental illnesses, intellectual disabilities, and with trans* folks. Even if they’re our ‘friends,’ they need to be held accountable. One is TOO much.

Also, I read last night for at least a half hour after midnight. Tonight will be the same. I cannot–CANNOT–sleep if I don’t spend at least a half hour reading for pleasure before bed. Right now, I’m reading JAM ON THE VINE, by LaShonda Katrice Barnett. It’s terrific, especially for a first novel. I also listen to audiobooks constantly. I’m listening to THE OTHER WES MOORE (for the third time and because I assigned it to my comp classes). It’s a terrific book, too, and in addition to Toni Morrison, Wes Moore is the only other author I’ve found who really does a good job reading his own book. Usually, I listen to mysteries or the like.

Done. Modified: arm lifts instead of sun salutations (I’ll be able to do this again soon me thinks!)
Extra squats to offset inversions

All done. And thanks for asking about reading. I have at least two books or magazines going at one time. Yesterday I was finishing up an old issue of Playboy. And yes, blind people do read Playboy! Here is a joke from the January issue under the party joke section to tickle your funny bone.
A man rushed into his sonâs room and said, âIf you keep masturbating you are going to go blind!â
The son said, âDad, I am over here!â
But on a more serious note I just finished reading a book by Gwen Ifil on politics and race. She talked about how much the political landscape has changed since the days of 70s and 80s. I like watching her show on PBS from time to time.

Also. Today I took the time to read “Red, White, and Black: Cinema and the Structure of US antagonisms.” It was on my Sumer reading list but I have been wanting to dive in. Thinking specifically about the black
Men who have been murdered by white police it felt apropos as it names the violence and white liberal complicity at the center of US racism. It was not fiction and it was not “light” but it is wonderful work.
