photo (17)Thursday’s challenge is awesome, so start the day with a lucky 7 sun salutations. The book I was reading for the Tuesday challenge (Taiye Selasi’s Ghana Must Go) contains this line, about a carpenter: “And did, in two years [build the house], arriving each morning at four, not a moment before or after, while the sky was still dark, to do sun salutations on the then-empty plot, sixty minutes or less, until sunrise.”

Don’t think I didn’t consider it. Though an hour of sun salutations would be awesome, that’s not Thursday’s challenge.

Thursday’s challenge is in honor of Marvin Gaye, who was born on this day in 1939. For the duration of What’s Going On, do burpees. Count them.

Then either immediately after, or sometime later when you can crank up the volume, put on Janelle Monet’s Q.U.E.E.N., released two years ago today, do a few stretchy-warm-up squats during the and  30-second ad and the :55 talk intro, then dance through the rest of the video, throwing in squats of whatever style. Count your squats.

Report to the comments the number of burpees and squats for 1 point.

Post a video of at least 10 seconds to the FB page of you squat-dancing to Janelle for 5 points. Yes, five. Because the greatest races are those where everyone is still in the running towards the finish line, and with a total of 42 points possible for any team, all teams are in the running.
